AMI Project Press Release (September 2007)

September 2007

West View Water Authority has announced that beginning September 17, 2007 it will begin changing each and every water meter within its service territory. The purpose of this extensive program is to allow the Authority to convert to Automatic Meter Reading also known as Advanced Meter Reading Infrastructure. This new technology will provide the West View Water Authority the capability of reading the water meters by radio frequency and virtually eliminating the need for a meter reader to enter the home or business for regular water meter readings.

Dan Daugherty, Executive Director stated that the Authority’s commitment to this program was based on the need to provide better service to their customers. The contract for the meter conversion program was awarded to VSi Meter Services who will be responsible for installing the water meter and related equipment. Sensus Metering Systems will be providing the new water meter and the meter interface unit.

The entire project is expected to be complete within three years as there are approximately 53,000 water meters to be changed. VSi Meter Services, the Authority’s official contractor will be working directly with all customers to schedule the new installation. The Executive Director said that each customer will receive a letter from VSi Meter Services regarding scheduling.
