MXU Endpoint Replacement Project

January 2026

Exciting News!   West View Water Authority Service Department will begin the MXU Endpoint Replacement Project.   Please read the following Q&A’s for more information about the project.

What is this project about?

This project will replace MXU endpoints within our service territory that have reached their end of service.   By replacing these units proactively, WVWA can continue uninterrupted meter service to our customers improving the health of our meter reading and billing systems.

What is a MXU endpoint unit?

This unit is part of our remote reading system and is used to collect a reading from the inside meter and send it to our billing department electronically.  The unit is cream in color and looks similar to the photo shown.

Where is this unit located?

The unit is located on the outside of the customer’s home or building.

How and when will this unit be replaced?

We will replace the units within our service territory from the oldest to the newest as needed.  A WVWA serviceman will replace the unit for your home or building.  We will be working in all the municipalities at various times based on the age of the units within our system.

Do I need to make an appointment?

No appointment or access to your home or building is needed.  No disruption in water service will occur.

Will I need to be present when the serviceman is replacing the unit?

Customers do not have to be on site while the unit is being replaced.  Our servicemen will only need access to the outside unit attached to the home or building.  The servicemen will knock on the door as a courtesy to customers prior to replacing the unit.

What if the serviceman finds a problem while changing out the unit?

If for some reason, our serviceman finds an issue with a wire or meter he may knock on the door or leave a card for the customer to schedule an appointment.
