Cybersecurity Statement

August 2026

West View Water Authority takes cybersecurity and the protection of our critical infrastructure very seriously. Like utilities across the country, we routinely face cyber threats. Protecting our water system, financial systems, and customers is a core responsibility of the Authority, and we continuously evaluate and strengthen our safeguards to address an evolving threat landscape.

The Authority employs multiple layers of administrative, operational, and technical safeguards to help protect its critical infrastructure and business systems. We routinely review and update our cybersecurity practices, evaluate potential risks, and implement enhancements as technologies and threats evolve.

Following the recent advisory issued by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), we reviewed our systems and confirmed that the conditions described in the advisory are not present in our environment. West View Water Authority has not experienced any impact to our operations or water service as a result of the recently reported threat activities. We will continue working with our technology partners and following federal and industry guidance to strengthen our cybersecurity posture.

In addition, West View Water Authority is in the process of transitioning facility communications to a dedicated private network through our Internet Service Provider. This network does not carry public internet traffic and will further isolate the systems that support our treatment facilities and operations from outside networks, adding another layer of protection for our critical infrastructure.

Cybersecurity awareness is embedded in the Authority’s culture. We routinely review our policies and procedures, provide ongoing employee awareness and training, and maintain multiple layers of financial and operational controls, including quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) measures, to help identify, prevent, and respond to potential threats.

For security reasons, we do not publicly discuss specific technologies, monitoring tools, or operational security measures, nor do we comment on attempted intrusions or ongoing monitoring activities. However, we remain committed to working closely with our federal and state partners, monitoring emerging threats, and continuing to invest in the technologies, training, and best practices necessary to ensure the safe, secure, and reliable delivery of drinking water to the communities we serve.
