Discolored Water from Testing

Recently, West View Water Authority has been testing our new Beaver County Water Treatment Plant. With the new source of water supply, some pipes within our distribution system will experience a reverse in flow direction possibly stirring up sediment in the piping.  We flush as necessary, however, if you notice this in your area, please contact our Customer Service Department at 412-931-3500 or 412-364-1257 during normal business hours.  We apologize for any inconvenience.

Discolored water can be a side effect of this testing program. We strongly suggest that all customers check their water before laundering or using large quantities of water.

If you experience discolored water or stained laundry, DO NOT CONTINUE TO USE THE WATER. Keep the laundry items damp until the water clears. Then use a non-chlorine bleach to re-launder. DO NOT USE CHLORINE BLEACH. Soak the items for a few hours and re-launder with your regular detergent and the non-chlorine bleach.

The water is SAFE TO DRINK.  The discoloration is caused by sediment in the piping.  Water from the distribution system is sampled and tested daily.  There are no safety issues with the quality of the water.

If you still have questions or need more information, please contact Customer Service at 412-931-3500 or 412-364-1257 during normal business hours.

Thank you for your cooperation and patience during this time.
